Lee Jeffries and Lucy Ford are proud to present A Day Of Hoop Dance. Join us for 4 hours of dance focused flow, footwork, and choreography. As the event name states, this weekend will be INTENSE! We will cover concepts and theories of dance to add a whole new element to your hooping. With both of our extensive backgrounds in movement arts, knowledge in multiple dance genres, and teaching experience, these workshops were designed to take your hooping and dancing to the next level!

Workshop made possible by Boston Flow & Northeastern Spinning Arts Club! // @bstnflow

Class will be in DANCE STUDIO A

FOLDS & FOOTWORK with Lucy Ford (1.5 hours) — This workshop will have you focusing on using multiple parts of your body at once to create a complete movement. We will begin with basic footwork technique and patterns without our hoops to understand our bodies better. We will break down my theory of folds and the many variations. To wrap it up, we will do a short combo bringing together folds and footwork.
*This ALL LEVELS class is a great place to start if you're trying to add a dance element to your flow or expand on your dance skills.

FREE HAND MOVEMENTS & SUSTAINED SPINNING with Lee Jeffries (1.5 hrs) -- In this class we will discuss and practice free hand movements and techniques. The hands are not often used to their fullest potential.. As we explore different avenues of movement and various cultures of dance, we can then begin to understand how to articulate and story tell. Once we feel comfortable with our hands, we will then begin to utilize the magic of sustained spinning from varying capacities from on/off body, core, and even HEAD hooping! *This is an ALL LEVELS class*

Choreography is a great way to experiment and better understand you and your partner(s) movement, but can also be an incredible tool for co-creation and connection for your local community!
In this 3 hour class, we will cover various group transitions (canons, retrogrades, etc.) that will help ease the organization of your dance.
We will not only connect with our hoops, but we will connect with our MUSIC! Throughout the class, students will receive several emotions to portray throughout the piece they create. By portraying various emotions along with the same movements, the student(s) can better understand the importance of emotion and how it can affect you and your partner(s) dance.
After we have covered transitions, divided into groups and have completed the creation process, we can then begin to share.
*This is an ADVANCED LEVEL class. Students participating must have taken Day 1 classes or have extensive knowledge in hoop tricks or an intermediate level in dance.*
